Welcome to IED
Welcome to my portfolio.
My name is Abhijeet Turka and I am a freshman at South Western HIgh School. Taking IED will help me to be prepared for college as it is a college level course and will help me to pursue a career in engineering. |
I am not involved in very many things in school, but I am part of the baseball team. Taking IED has helped to build very many characteristics like teamwork, communication, and quality.
PLTW-IED is a course taught by Mr. Sieg that exposes students to the design process, communication, and technical documentation for students who are interested in entering the engineering field or any technical field. This course also gives students to develop skills in teamwork, technical writing, and problem solving. This course also counts as a practical art credit which is needed to graduate.
How to succeed in IED
Notebooks and notebook checks, are very important. this may seem like a very small thing but it will play a big role in your success in this course. People try to rush these notebooks but they take time and effort. This may seem like a very small part of your grade but you want to get those small points because they add up. These notebooks help you to stay organized and help you to know what you have done and what you still have to turn in.
Make sure to use your time effectively. Projects and other activities take countless hours to complete so don't wait till the last minute to complete any projects or your notebooks. If you wait till the last minute you will end up getiing a bad grade and you do not want a bad grade in that class. If Mr. SIeg assigns homework make sure that you do it because that will also affect your grade. Challenges are very fun in that class. They come up every once in a while but use those challenges to see what people are good at and how well you work with which people. They also help you to relize that simple and quick ideas can be better than ones that are thought out for days because simple ideas usually win the challenge.
